Shane Mosley’s Win Over Oscar de la Hoya Due to Steroids Use

Published by SteroidSources.com at 3:38 pm under Boxing and Steroids

Shane Mosley’s win is now questionable when he admitted that he used EPO before the fight with Oscar de la Hoya during their  junior middleweight title bout in 2003.
The judges in that fight gave unanimous decision favoring Shane MOsley.

A review of the court transcripts and doping calendars reviewed by the New York Daily News, “Sugar” Shane Mosley admitted to a grand jury that he injected himself with the doping agent EPO as he prepared for the fight against Oscar De La Hoya. Mosley knows what it can do to him or the benefits that he can get from using that steroid.

The testimony was made known to the public when U.S. District Court Judge Susan Illston decided last Wednesday allowed prosecutors to share thousands of documents with Barry Bonds’ lawyers. Bonds is also facing charges for steroid use. The court transcript was part of the BALCO case.

Records shows that Mosley acknowledged that he used performance enhancing drug but has denied that those drugs are banned or illegal. Judd Burntein, Mosley’s lawyer, affirmed that the testimony of MOsley is consistent with what he said publicly. Victor Conte, who is convicted as steroids dealer, stated that he also saw Mosley take EPO during a meeting in which Mosley was told the benefits and risks of performance-enhancing drugs and how to use them.

Oscar dela Hoya was asked by some journalist what he plans against Shane MOsley when he learned about the controversy. The Golden Boy told Newsday recently: “Did it help him win? Probably. I was actually considering doing something about it, but Shane is such a good guy, and he’s a partner in my company, so I’m going to let it go. It’s in the past.”

This loss of Oscar dela Hoya to Mosley is only one of the few losses he have in his entire boxing career. One is his loss to Bernard Hopkins who  defeated him on a left hook on his liver. The other three are controversial decisions. While the latest is his loss to Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. The Golden Boy was hammered by “Pacman” Pacquiao in the entire fight forcing Oscar dela Hoya to give-in on the ninth round. The welterweight title bout is supposed to be a good fight between de la Hoya and Pacquiao. With this result, Oscar dela Hoya might be thinking of retiring soon.

On the other hand, Shane Mosley is also expected to fight Antonio Margarito on Jan. 24 for the WBA welterweight championship.
