Dwain Chambers status in Track and Field after doping case The fastest man in the United Kingdom claims he needs money and he needs it quickly. Dwain Chambers, after undergoing BALCO drug cocktails and other BALCO PEDS like the Human Growth Hormone cannot ply his trade due to the ruling against ex drug cheaters running in future races. The rationale for such a ruling is although he cheated just once, the effects of the steroid use may be utilized much further down the road. Though it has been quite a period since he has taken any performance enhancing drugs, he still owes money due to debts he incurred during his suspension. He added that if the track meets are unable to reward him financially then he would quit altogether.

Chambers was meted a two year drug ban due to the findings he had used BALCO PEDs. But the far reaching effects of the suspension still carry over to future track meets organized by the Euro Meetings Group which carry the lifetime ban on athletes suspended for violating the drug policy. This means he is disallowed to participate in as many as fifty track meets worldwide and even in England. Also included in the suspension was the order that Chambers ought to return the earnings of over GBP100,000 last 2002, which was the period of time he was also using the banned drug THG.

With the suspension lifted, the athletics governing body UK Athletics have accepted into its roster the disgraced athlete after failing to ban his participation in the 2007 World Indoor Championships. UKA wanted to disown Chambers from wearing the Union Jack but recanted its position after he won the 60 meter silver medal. With this development, Chambers would try to become a member of the UK team for the European Indoor Championships in August.

But the financial toll weighs heavily on Chambers mind. He was even quoted as saying that his wife is his primary sponsor. In an interview with PA Sport, he intimated that Leonie (his wife) is the only one supporting him since his reinstatement. So off he goes to play in money races, especially in Europe, and with this he said that he will race only if he is treated financially well by promoters of the meet. He continued by saying that if by next year no serious money comes his way, he is seriously considering hanging up his track shoes and seek other means of employment. This would be quite hard as Chambers is banned from Olympic level events because of his doping suspension but he still strives on.

Last summer, Chambers had the best time in the European 100metre sprint and has been continuously training for more medals and races for the Norwich Union GB side for the major competitions next year. He adds that he plans to play in the Birmingham Games in January, then run for the trials. Chambers also plans to participate in the European Indoors and the World Championships.

He feels that he can win many medals for the UK and he is the man for the job. In order to achieve that, he plans to set an appointment with UKA chief Niels de Vos to grant him special dispensation to be able to compete in Aviva British meets hopefully by the New Year to speed him off right in the coming year.
