NFL Sued by Pat and Kevin Williams for $10M

Published by SteroidSources.com at 12:12 am under NFL and Steroids

Pat and Kevin Williams Sues NFL Pat and Kevin Williams of Minnesota Vikings are asking the National Football League for $10 million, as a result of their steroid related suspension. The two players were suspended in violation with the league’s anti-steroids policy last December. Over the weekend, the Williamses filed a suit against the NFL. They claimed that the league violated two Minnesota laws and caused them $10 million in damages.

Based on the suit filed by the Williamses in the District Court of Minnesota, the players asked for compensatory damages, punitive damages, injunctive relief, and such other relief as the Court deems just and proper against the NFL and leagues officals specifically John Lombardo, M.D. Brian Finkle and Aldopho Birch.

Aside from the alledged NFL’s violation of Minnesota Drug and Alcohol Testing in the Workplace Act, the suit also includes gross negligence, intentional inflict of emotion distress, negligent misrepresentation, constructive Fraud, violation of public policy, aiding and abetting breach of fiduciary duty, and injunctive relief.

The suspension of the Williamses was brought by their violation of the NFL’s steroids and other related substances policy. The Vikings’ Williamses are two of the six players who were suspended. Although these two were able to get an injunction from the federal court allowing them to play for the last season end game.

The NFL discourages the use of diuretics and other pills that prove to be an unhealthy and dangerous substance for the players. The team reacted with disappointment with the decision of NFL and asked the court to stop the implementation of the suspension against their players.

According to a statement by Peter Ginsberg, a partner from an international law firm, both Kevin and Pat Williams never used steroids and they do not deserve the league’s decision and actions. They suffered from their decision and the players will do their part in answering the administration’s action so as to correct the harm done to them. He also added that this did not only put the players at risk in terms of the program but also endangered their safety.

The plaintiffs lawyer said that there was no warning sent by Birch regarding the NFL’s banning of StarCaps. Aldopho Birch only forbids the league’s officials from endorsing the product but he disregarded the actual health of the players. This is even supported by the other lawyers that represent the other suspended players as they said that the officials failed to inform the players and the association about the Bumetanide content found in StarCaps.  Bumetanide is actually not a steroid but a masking agent for steroids.

Whatever results these suit will give the Williamses will depend on how the court would weigh their arguments. They were able to get an initial victory from the injunction and now they are also hoping to win this $10 MILLION suit against the NFL and its officials.
