British Sprinter Dwain Chambers Writes About Being a “Walking Junkie”

Published by SteroidSources.com at 4:56 am under Steroids in Sports

Dwain Chambers book Race Against Me: My Story Dwain Chambers, a British sprinter talks about his drug use in an autobiography and claims he was a “walking junkie.” He had so many drugs in his luggage that he was afraid he’d be arrested while going through airport security in Miami.

Chambers had served a ban from 2003 until 2005 for doping, now he details his drug use in a book called “Race Against Me: My Story.” This book will go out sale next week.

Chambers, 30 years old, had written that in his luggage in Miami there were enough drugs to kill an elephant and wasn’t aware if they are all legal or not. Chambers said that he was a walking junkie and that he had tubes of stuff that he only knew as ‘the clear’ and the ‘the cream,’ as well as a few bottles of HGH and EPO, which he kept in ice packs as they needed to be cool.

Chambers was the first athlete having connections to the BALCO founder Victor Conte to test positive on the previously undetectable “the clear” steroid THG. Chambers said that he started using THG and other drugs after he met Conte in 2002. Chambers said he shelled out 30,000 dollars a year for doping substances.

According the Chambers, Conte said that he has the potential to be a gold medallist and that he can make Chambers the fastest man in the world.

The sprinter admitted that he was not just on THG, HGH and EPO. He was also on testosterone to help him sleep and reduce his cholesterol. On Christmas Day of 2002, he said that he was in the bathroom with the THG “the clear” and then he realized that he had been taking drugs – more than 300 different combinations for 12 months.

During those times, Chambers claims to have passed 10 doping tests and winning the 100-meter gold medal at the European Championships in 2002. But his times had not improved that dramatically and he was also troubled with stomach cramps frequently.

If he runs clean, his personal best was 9.97 seconds. After a year of sleepless nights, pains, cramps, anxiety, the drawing of blood to avoid stroke or something worse and then the inconsistent races and the disappointments of missing his event, his personal best became 9.87 seconds

Chambers could have made a better and sexier name for his book and made it something like “Race Against Me: The Toxic Dump.” However his drug regimen was a common prescription for world class sprinters. Recently he had to compete with other elite sprinters, and so you wonder about those who beat him and what their PED regimen includes.

Do you also wonder how many clean sprinters did not make it because this one doped?

Chambers had “the clear” or the THG, testosteromen, HGH, insulin, T4, Provigil and EPO. Yes those things were dangerous, and yes they were effective. Well apparently coz Chambers claims to enhance his personal best from 9.97 to 9.87.
