Cyst of Alex Rodriguez not Due to Steroid Use According to Anti-Doping Expert

Published by SteroidSources.com at 6:00 pm under Baseball and Steroids

It has been reported a few days ago that Alex Rodriguez has a cyst on his right hip. Most people already speculated that the cyst was due to his illegal steroid use for 3 years while still playing for the Rangers.

Can this cyst a possible effect of steroid use? Baseball fans are divided on this issue. If others would automatically conclude that it is the result of long term steroid use of Rogriguez, some would still want to know from experts if this can happen to a user. Using performance ehancing drugs do have side effects specially if used on a long term basis and without proper guidance from a professional. Of course abuse of any drug will difinitely bring negative side effects specially on the health condition of the user. Some noted effects are heart problems, liver diseases, gynecomastia and so on.

To give an end to this speculation, an expert from the World Anti Doping Agency gave his opinion on the current health condition of A-Rod. According to anti-doping expert Gary Wadler, an internist and member of the World Anti-Doping Agency, there is no basis in correlating the cyst to A-Rod’s steroid use. “Everybody’s jumping to correlations or conclusions, but there’s no basis for it,” Wadler said.

Wadler said that the cyst is probably not related to an injection of anabolic steroids. Most performance enhancing drugs are not injected on the hips. It is not an injection point for the performance-enhancing elixirs. Wadler stated that the most likely cause of A-Rod’s cyst is due to athletic wear and tear. It can also be due to infections and tumors. Other people may also have cysts due to genetic conditions.

Wadler also added that some people has this condition even at the time of their birth.”You’re either born with them or probably the single biggest reason is trauma or osteoarthritis, and then down the line are various forms of malignancies.”

Alex Rodriguez already flew to Vail Colorado to see a hip specialist. He was examined by a hip specialist Dr. Marc Philippon. The cyst and the results of the examination will affect Rodriguez’ bid to participate in World Baseball Classic. This was already disclosed by the Yankees. They are just hoping that Rodriguez will be fine and the result would not be unfavorable.

Another baseball legend who is also on the limelight of using performance enhancing drugs is Roger Clemens. His former trainer, now his accuser, told the Congressional Hearings that Clemens had an abscess on his buttocks due to performance enhancing drug use. Although Clemens continue denying this allegations by his former friend and trainer.
