The Major League Baseball will not issue any sanction or penalty on Alex Rodriguez in relation to his use of performance enhancing drugs. The league was forced to conduct its own investigation to know whether Rodriguez lied about his admission in February that he only used steroids while still playing with the Texas Rangers from 2001-03. The aim of the investigation is to determine if Rodriguez was not lying when he issued the statement. In the book by Selena Roberts of SI, she insists that A-Rod used steroids and human growth hormone as late as 2004. The investigation was difficult for the commissioners since they don’t have any power to compel witnesses outside of the league.
One of the respondents in the inquiry is the controversial trainer, Angel Presinal. He is the Dominican trainer who was banned from different clubhouses because of his involvement in performance enhancing drugs since 2002. Presinal is also the trainer of Alex Rodriguez. However, the league did not get much information from the trainer. Roberts, who made several accusations on her book, did not cooperate with the investigation. A-Rod is now playing with the Yankees after recuperating from his hip injury.
