Women MMA Would be Better without Steroid-Aided Cyborg Says Rousey

Published by SteroidSources.com at 11:05 pm under UFC and Steroids

Strikeforce Ronda Rousey wanted to fight former champion Cyborg Santos after steroid suspension ends, said she will beat Cyborg “I think women’s MMA is better in general with her gone.” This is the latest attack made my Ronda Rousey against disgraced champion Cris “Cyborg” Santos. Rousey will be fighting Meisha Tate on March 3 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

Cyborg Suspended for Steroids

Cyborg Santos brought the women MMA into a higher level but her failed doping test puts her integrity and skills in question. Santos knocked out Hiroko Yamanaka in less than 20 seconds during their bout last December. However, the athletic commission found in her system the banned substance stanozolol. It is an anabolic steroid usually taken by athletes to reduce weight and at the same time build leaner muscles. She was suspended for 1 year and stripped off her title.

Santos has been the target of criticisms after the positive test came out. MMA fans and people inside MMA have been criticizing her for using anabolic steroids. And of course, who would take the lead in attacking the former champion. Her future nemesis, Ronda Rousey. The two women fighters have been into online squabble using the social media.

Rousey believes that Cyborg is a detriment to women’s MMA. In the interview with Sherdog, Rousey said that Cyborg is a bad example to MMA fans especially for young kids. “I think it was obvious all along that she was doping and I think it’s a really bad message to send to kids that you need to dope to be a champion,” she said.

Rousey Wanted Cyborg

Though she like Cyborg to be gone in the women MMA, the former Olympian would still like to take a shot at Cyborg once she come back. However, Cyborg should be ready to be beaten said Rousey. “I plan on fighting her when she comes back and I plan on beating her when she comes back. I feel like that will be a good example. The only positive role that I think Cris Cyborg can play for women’s MMA is as a bad guy Ivan Drago character that’s going to get beat by a Rocky,” she told Sherdog.

The athletic commission gave Cyborg one year punishment for her doping offense but the real punishment is when Rousey beats her inside the ring. Rousey’s prediction is something to watch out for when Strikeforce puts them inside the ring.

In another interview, Rousey questioned the credibility and skills of Cyborg. She told the Tapout Radio that Cyborg could not have won her previous fights if the latter was not on steroids. “I think you have to rethink all of her wins before, over Gina Carano, Marloes Coenen, and all these girls. You know, it’s not like she beat them on technique, and if she wasn’t doping, she wouldn’t have won any of those fights,” she said. She commended women fighters who have fought with technique and integrity rather than turning to steroids just to win titles.

Cyborg responded to Rousey’s ranting by posting a message on Twitter. The former champion wanted Rousey to be her next victim. Whether it will happen after the suspension ends is still a question. But for now, Rousey will have to prove herself. She must beat Meisha Tate on March 3. Asked by the media is she’s ready, Rousey responded that she’s the most dangerous unarmed woman on the planet right now.

UFC 143 Fighter Nick Diaz Doped

Meanwhile, the NSAC (Nevada State Athletic Commission) told the media that a fighter failed a doping test in the UFC 143 event. The event was headlined by Carlos Condit and Nick Diaz. Condit won the interim UFC welterweight title via unanimous decision.

NSAC Director Keith Kizer told ESPN that it was Nick Diaz who returned a positive test for a banned substance. However, the substance was not a steroid but for marijuana metabolites. A disciplinary action was already filed against Diaz. UFC President Dana White was disappointed with what happened. This is already the second time Diaz failed a doping test.

Diaz announced that he will now retire from MMA after his loss to Condit.
