10 Do’s and Don’ts of Using Steroids:

It is a fact. Hormones play important functions in the body. They regulate vital processes to ensure normal functioning of our system. Too much or too little production of these hormones could lead to disastrous consequences in our life. Oftentimes the effects are fatal. In addition, there are instances when these hormone-producing glands will, for no apparent reason, stop making these crucial substances thereby jeopardizing our health.steroids

To illustrate, take for example the hormone cortisol. The adrenal glands produce cortisol which is then secreted into our bloodstream. Unfortunately, there are times when the adrenal glands shrink and could no longer make these important substances.  This will seriously compromise our health. Sometimes, the hormones produced are "premature", resulting to abnormalities in our body. In rare cases, the adrenal glands are removed by surgery. Indeed, there are various instances when the body fails to make these important hormones. Under these circumstances, you need to take hormone supplement or steroids.

Below are some tips to guide you when taking steroids.

1.)  ALWAYS CONSULT WITH YOUR DOCTOR
Please know that the medical community view steroids as "medicinal drug" to treat maladies or illness and not just a fad of the moment. Like any "drugs", its indiscriminate use can put you or your health in jeopardy. It is therefore imperative that you consult your doctor before taking any form of steroids.

2.) TAKE ONLY THE PRESCRIBED DOSAGE
The keyword here is "prescribed". If, after taking the steroids, you still see no significant improvement, or you feel worse, see your doctor and discuss the issue. Your doctor can then increase or decrease the amount of steroids you should take to suit your particular needs.

3.) BUY FROM LEGITIMATE AND FULLY-LICENSED ESTABLISHMENTS
Your doctor can suggest some state-licensed outlets where you can buy steroids.

4.) DON'T MISS TAKING YOUR STEROID MEDICATION
Always ensure that you know the time when to take the medication. If you are advised to take steroids twice a day, then do it twice a day. Just like any medication, make provisions that you remember and stick to your steroid-taking schedule to reap the maximum benefits.

5.) ENSURE THAT YOU GET THE CORRECT BRAND NAME
A particular steroid comes in many labels. There are steroids that contain only small percentage of the required hormone while there are also packages that contain more than the prescribed amount. By buying the correct steroid brand name, you save yourself unnecessary health risks.

6.) STICK TO THE PRESCRIBED METHOD
If your doctor advises you to take two tablets per day, then by all means do so. Any deviation is risk. Do not get street- smart and settle for an injectable steroids with the hope of maximizing the results. Such action could lead to undesirable results. Always stick with your doctor's professional advice.

7.) DON'T BUY YOUR FRIEND'S UNUSED STEROIDS
Even though your friend may still have unused steroids, don't be tempted to go for it at discounted prices. Even if it is given to you free, don't. There's a good chance that the particular steroids' potency may already have lapsed or that it completely lost its usefulness.

8.) DON'T GIVE YOUR UNUSED STEROIDS TO YOUR FRIENDS
If you are taking steroids to ease up your back pain and you know a friend who suffer from the same ailment, don't try to give him your medication. Of course you meant well, but such benevolent action could endanger your friend's health. If you really want to play Good Samaritan, bring your friend to a doctor and buy the prescribed medicine for him. That way he'll know you are his true buddy for life.

9.) ALWAYS TAKE STEROIDS AFTER A MEAL
Please know that taking steroid supplement on an empty stomach could lead to indigestion. To avoid this, take steroids with food.

10.)  DON'T TAKE STEROIDS WITH OTHER MEDICATION
If your doctor prescribes you with steroids, let him know of any other medication you are taking. While most common medication—aspirin, sleeping pills, antibiotics, etc. -- does not interfere with steroids, there are medications that do. To be safe, better check with your medical practitioner if ever you need to take medications other than steroids.
